What changed in the August 2026 update to the OnFrontiers Standard Terms

OnFrontiers updated its Standard Terms effective August 11, 2026. This page summarizes what changed for experts and for customers. It is a summary only. The updated policies themselves govern, and you can read them in full at the links below.

The updates are prospective. They apply to work requested or accepted on or after the effective date. Nothing changes retroactively.

If you registered as an expert before August 11, 2026, the updated Expert Participation Agreement begins to apply to your work on September 1, 2026 — or earlier, if you accept it when you next sign in. Work you accept before then remains governed by the agreement in effect at the time you accepted it.

What changed for Experts

One agreement for three ways of working. The Expert Participation Agreement now covers all three ways experts work on OnFrontiers (Video Consultations, Written Responses, and Scoped Engagements), with clear payment rules for each. Fees are fixed when you accept work: for a Written Response, the fee stated when you accept the assignment is the fee payable; for a Scoped Engagement, you are paid for approved hours at the rates in the Engagement Order, and OnFrontiers settles payment to you regardless of when the customer pays.

More control over your contributions. Previously, everything you delivered was assigned outright to the customer. Under the updated terms you retain ownership of your work and grant OnFrontiers an exclusive license that lets us build products and services from platform content over time (including AI-assisted products), while customers' rights are scoped to what they elect and pay for. You also gain protections that did not exist before: your expertise, methods, and general knowledge always remain yours; your attribution choices are always honored; and your work is never provided to an outside party for AI training unless that is stated on the order before you accept it.

Attribution is your choice. The updated terms establish the OnFrontiers Library, a de-identified library of expert content launching later this year. For any content that ever reaches the Library, you choose whether to be identified by name or listed by your professional title; if you make no choice, you are listed by title. Today, no content is included in the Library. Your election travels with your work, so nothing is published later on terms you didn't see.

Scoped Engagements have their own direct agreement. For project work, you contract directly with the customer under the new Expert-Client Agreement (this replaces the old Marketplace Expert Agreement template). The customer owns the project work product; you are the customer's independent contractor; OnFrontiers runs vetting, conflicts screening, hours and approvals, and pays you as settlement agent.

Disputes and your opt-out right. The updated agreement includes an arbitration provision with class-action and jury waivers. You may opt out: send written notice to hello@onfrontiers.com stating your name and your intention to opt out of arbitration. If you registered before August 11, 2026, your deadline is October 1, 2026, or 30 days after you accept the updated agreement, whichever is later. If you register on or after August 11, 2026, your deadline is 30 days after you accept. Opting out does not affect your standing on the Platform. Step-by-step: How do I opt out of arbitration?

What you need to do. Nothing is required to continue. You will see a one-time summary and acceptance screen the next time you sign in. If you have questions, email hello@onfrontiers.com.

What changed for Customers

Content Elections. When you order a Video Consultation or a Written Response, you now confirm a Content Election that states the treatment of the resulting content, your rights in the work product, and the charges. Once the OnFrontiers Library launches later this year, the election also states any period of exclusive access before content is made available there. Today's default: your content is for your organization's use only and is not included in the Library unless you elect otherwise. Your account can carry default elections on its Order Form so ordering stays one click.

Your rights, your choice of tier. Work product comes to you under the rights tier you elect: internal business use; use in deliverables you distribute to your own clients; or an exclusive license or assignment. Scoped Engagement work product is yours outright as work made for hire, from the individual author, with OnFrontiers out of the chain of title.

The Library and your confidentiality. When the Library launches, its content will be de-identified to a published standard: it never identifies you or your client, never discloses your confidential information, and never reveals that you sought expert work on a particular matter. Content that incorporates or derives from materials you supply is never eligible for the Library. These rules are in the terms now, before the Library exists, so the standard is fixed before any content is published.

Data. Your data remains yours. Verbatim content is used to provide the Services to you and is not used to train models that serve any other customer. OnFrontiers retains de-identified data and learnings (structured facts, findings, and market signals extracted from content, as distinct from the content itself), subject to the same confidentiality standard above.

Fees and billing. Invoiced amounts are due on net-15 terms with late interest of 1.5% per month. The Customer Charging Policy consolidates the fee rules for all three work types.

When these terms apply to you. If you subscribe through an Order Form, the updated terms apply from your next renewal or new Order Form, unless you adopt them sooner. Pro Subscriptions are governed by the updated terms from the effective date in the ordinary course of the subscription.
